oh_deanna: (glee // quinn never can say goodbye)
Three days later and I'm finally getting around to finishing these posts. Sorry! According to what I had written here, I was distracted by Glee. Those of you who watch Glee will probably understand! It's been an emotional last few episodes! Also there was a shitload of homework to be done, homework that I am still in the process of doing. Yech. This movie is one of my all-time favourites - I have many good memories of watching it in Advanced English and seeing all my classmates get as caught up and emotional as I was getting.

#13. Dead Poets Society (1989)

“No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world."

SYNOPSIS: Painfully shy Todd Anderson has been sent to the school where his popular older brother was valedictorian. His room-mate, Neil, although exceedingly bright and popular, is very much under the thumb of his overbearing father. The two, along with their other friends, meet Professor Keating, their new English teacher, who tells them of the Dead Poets Society, and encourages them to go against the status quo. Each, in their own way, does this, and are changed for life.

WHY IS IT ON THE LIST: This is such a wonderful movie. Really, truly wonderful. It's my favourite Robin Williams role, and he just shines! The students are fantastic and their cameradarie is touching. It's always sort of reminded me of The History Boys (another movie which is on this list, coming up soon!), or rather, The History Boys reminded me of this movie. This movie has one of those most intensely awful and heart wrenching suicide scenes I have ever watched... I get teary just thinking about it. A classic movie that everyone needs to watch, if they haven't already!
