11. The Corpse Bride

It is so cold. Seriously, it's beyond freezing. I'm wrapped up in a million layers of clothes, plus I'm typing this up wearing gloves, which is tricky to say the least. Trying to convince myself to leave the house tomorrow (I'm running out of smokes and also I need to go to the library), and I'm dreading it to be honest. Gonna bundle myself up and hope for the best. Tonight's movie is an all-time favourite, especially in the winter months... The Corpse Bride.

#11. The Corpse Bride (2005)

“With this hand I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine.”

SYNOPSIS: When an arranged marriage between Victor Van Dort and Victoria Everglot reaches the rehearsals, Victor starts to worry. Spending time alone in the forest, Victor decides to practice on his own. Everything seems to go well, until he accidentally puts the ring upon the hand of a corpse. Before he knows it, Victor is in the land of dead and now has a corpse bride. Whilst everyones worries about who Victoria will marry in the land of the living, Victor desperately finds a way to get back.

WHY IS IT ON THE LIST: Only Tim Burton could make a movie about a guy accidentally marrying a corpse as adorable as this. I remember watching this and going in thinking "Ugh, this is never going to match The Nightmare Before Christmas". How wrong I was! This movie exceeded my expectations when I first saw it, and to this day remains a musical favourite. I love the songs and the sequence with all the  little oogly creatures living in the otherworld. And I LOVE the old wise man skeleton dude. He cracks me up! The voices are so well done, and Victor is the most adorable, sad little character that has you rooting for him the entire movie. My little shipper heart loves him with Victoria AND the Corpse Bride.
