18. Red Dragon
I have spent all day organising my livejournal - fixing up the tags, editing the formatting to some older posts, friendslocking older posts, changing the profile layouts of my mix community, and changing the actual layout of this journal. Of course, what I really should be doing is my homework, but this just seemed much more important. I was also a bit distracted because my father called me with some bad news about a family friend, so I'm feeling a little off-kilter today. Sorry! Also, I've been posting this one facebook, and my high school English teacher is totally judging me for liking this movie! I like bad movies, I can't help it!

“I am the Dragon. And you call me insane. You are privy to a great becoming, but you recognise nothing. To me, you are a slug in the sun. You are an ant in the afterbirth. It is your nature to do one thing correctly. Before me, you rightly tremble. But, fear is not what you owe me. You owe me awe.”
SYNOPSIS: FBI Agent Will Graham has been called out of early retirement to catch a serial killer, known by authorities as "The Tooth Fairy". He asks for the help of his arch-nemesis, Dr. Hannibal "The Cannibal" Lecter, so that he can be able to catch "The Tooth Fairy" and bring him to justice. The only problem is that "The Tooth Fairy" is getting inside information about Graham and his family from none other than Dr. Lecter.
WHY IS IT ON THE LIST: Because of Edward Norton. I ADORE that man. ADORE him. I think he's a brilliant actor and alongside Anthony Hopkins in this movie he just shines. He plays one of those detectives that is always able to get into the mind of the criminal and skirts the line between actually becoming them and staying the good guy, etc etc. But together with the whole history we have of Hannibal Lecter (from Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal), it actually works. And Ralph Fiennes (another crush) is creepily brilliant as the Red Dragon. One of my favourite scenes in the movie is when glues Philip Seymour Hoffman (another freaking amazing actor) to a wheelchair and sets it on fire, leaving it to roll along down the street. It's surreal and horrifying and just encapsulates the whole feel of this movie - so creepy, so good!
